ingredients
- 1 cup stone ground grits
- 4 cups water
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tbs. butter
- 2 tbs. cream
directions
- Put 1 cup grits in deep saucepan. Fill with water, swirl, and then pour off the water.
- Repeat, pouring off the water removing the bran.
- Then add 4 cups of COLD water to the grits, 3/4 tsp. salt, 2 tbs. butter. and bring to a robust boil.
- Cover and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occaisionally to prevent sticking.
- About 1 minute before serving, add 2 tbs. heavy cream to finish cooking.
