Whether growing from seed or transplanting, careful thought is required to produce a fresh and, tasty quality vegetable.
Our family members have been very busy since the beginning of this year in preparation of our 2009 spring season. In January, we started our first web site. With the expert guidance of Brainstorm Creative Web Solutions, we hope you will enjoy information about the farming activities and us during the season. Please let it be a medium for you to be a part of our CSA.
Land preparation, crop planning for varieties of products with there timing for harvest is very important, to assure you (our partner) a bountiful supply of healthy vegetables this spring. Whether growing from seed or transplanting, careful thought is required to produce a fresh and, tasty quality vegetable.
Equipment readiness is also an important task for pre-season attention. During the growing season weed control with standard methods of cultivation depends greatly on precision planting so the steel tines and sweeps eliminate the weed pest but allow the vegetable plant to remain vigorous and hardy. Since our products will be naturally grown without the use of synthetic herbicides and pesticides, decisions to address the issues must be planned. Windbreaks in the form of rye grass will be planted to help control wind erosion and sand damage to young plants common in March and April.
We look forward getting to know you and to providing your family what we expect to be a weekly surprise of fine vegetables from our family farm. Please contact us with questions or check our web site for an every expanding “question and answer” resource. We welcome any suggestions you may have.
Until next time, Jody & Pinckney
